Vasse Western AustraliaClick Here to see Vasse on a map. Vasse and the newer 'Vasse Newtown' are located between Busselton and Dunsborough, on the south west cost of WA. Vasse is near the clear waters of Geographe Bay and is one of the most popular new building and family living spots in Western Australia. Vasse in the South West, 240 kilometres (158 mi) south of Perth on the shores of Geographe Bay. Vasse is conveniently located near the major regional town/city of Busselton and only a stones throw away from the popular tourist destination of Dunsborough, Margaret River and Yallingup - the state's best tourist destinations for the sheltered waters of Geographe Bay and the ideal setting with it's quiet coves, sandy beaches, surrounding national park, nature reserves and scenic walking trails.
During the last decade the town has grown quickly and become a hot spot for families and has recently had a new high school, Cape Naturaliste College. The town is named after the Vasse River and Vasse Estuary, both of which in turn are named after French seaman, Thomas Vasse, that disappeared in the area in June 1801 during Nicolas Baudin's expedition. The population of Vasse is around 75 (2001 estimate) but is expected to increase to around 5,000 on the completion of the Vasse Newtown Development by around 2012. Vasse is serviced by Busselton's public bus service run by South West Coach Lines. South west coach lines and Transwa coach services also run service to Vasse for connections to other south west towns and Perth.
